Never Underestimate
Dental Practice Management Part Ii
In the last post we talked about the importance of running a business
by striking a balance. Most assuredly there must be those involved
in the business that are able to deliver the actual service that
the business provides.
These people may be educated and highly skilled at their craft,
but this does not mean that they are skilled at handling the administrative
and financial aspects of running a business; in fact, in most cases
the opposite is true. Further, even if those who provide their customers
and clients with a high level service are also very adept at those
details inherent in running a business, they most certainly will
not have the time to do both.
For dental practices, dental office management is the support team
behind those who actually provide the service for which patients
come to the office. They are there to see a dentist and have dental
work done of all varieties and the dentist – and the dental
staff – provides that service. But without proper and effective
dental management balancing out the business, a practice is always
in danger of losing patients. Let’s take a look at what dental
practice management provides to a practice:
* Billing management. With the dentist providing the service, they
must have solid office management in place to make sure that they
are paid for what they do. Effective dental practice management
deals with insurance companies and makes sure that patients pay
their bills.
* Staffing. Having an effective staff in place is paramount to
a practice’s success. Dental practice management will handle
all staff concerns including hiring, HR concerns, and management.
* Supply management. It is obviously imperative that a dental staff
always have the tools in place to properly serve their patients.
A dental management team makes sure that a practice is always well
stocked and deals with suppliers accordingly. |
